Welcome to the Official Website of the
Tallulah River Watershed Council!
The river and the lakes and surrounding hills and mountains that make up the Tallulah River Watershed present breathtaking collections of spectacular views and pristine waters. Many lakes and rivers in other parts of the country once held the same distinction, but decades of human habitation and activities tarnished their environs. Residents and stakeholders in many of those areas organized to determine how they could prevent further dissipation of their precious resources and even restore some of the lost purity and beauty. The Tallulah River Watershed Council was formed with that goal in mind.
Our watershed retains much of its initial pure qualities, but we must accept responsibility to operate as diligent stewards of the area in order to preserve and even enhance this treasure, and to bequeath our successors something as magnificent as we inherited.
The TRWC is focused on informing and educating all residents:
(1) regarding best practices/guidelines to protect and enhance the watershed while ensuring that they leave few footprints evidencing their time there, as well as
(2) ensuring that commercial and governmental activities meet standards in accordance with the commonly accepted "Best Management Practices" (see the TRWC Mission Statement page in the "Who We Are" tab).
