The TRWC is a nonpolitical volunteer organization that identifies and investigates significant threats to the assets of the watershed, from the floors of the waterways to the tops of the ridgelines. If investigation warrants, the TRWC informs the appropriate authorities and organizations and works with them to develop plans to mitigate or eliminate the threats. The TRWC strives to continuously educate its constituencies regarding the current status of conditions within the watershed, and identifies and communicates best management practices (BMP's) which minimize the impact of the presence of residents and businesses within the watershed. In conjunction with local governmental authorities, it seeks to establish standards that guide residential and commercial activities throughout the watershed.
